What's your favourite type of pub?
|
A big busy Wetherspoons or other cheap gaf?
A small backstreet local with darts and a pool table?
A flashy modern wine bar?
A country pub with a roaring fire?
Discuss.

Cheap old man boozer
racing on telly, bookies close by.
Little Crown in Deptford, or the Wheatsheaf in Romford are my 2 fave boozers.

My local is good. Got done up a few years back but not over the top, so a good mix of people. Decent and wide ranging beers on tap, massive beer garden. Lots of dogs (the four legged ones) and always plenty of birds in.

Give me an old backstreet or country boozer any day of the week. Fucking hate these All bar one and gastro type pubs.

I like a nice sticky carpet and a smell of stale urine and spilt beer. Prefer it when the carpet follows me out of the pub when I leave.
I like city pubs with decent ales, but the traditional sort - Nicholson's, Fullers, Sam Smith's.
Decent pubs out my way, not too gastro yet.

A Sam Smith's pub will do me fine if West Ham's not on the box.
Currently, Old Brewery is the best value for money pint I know of, and, even if someone else was paying, it would still be my second favourite beer.

If I'm generally going out with me mates then a backstreet boozer full of unsavoury characters I would go for.
However if I'm with the missus and family, then a country pub with an open fire can't be beaten

Proper boozer with a decent duke box and busty wench barmaid and none of that pretentious wine bar or modern pub type bollocks.
Salman and Ball right next to Bethnal Green tube station is ideal when in the area.

Please DESIST from turning this into a nostalgic "all the best pubs have shut down cos the east end is full of pakis" type thread PLEASE.
